Institution Profile:

Founded in 1891, and part of the University of London since 1904, Goldsmiths has a rich academic history but we’re also known for our creative approach. We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate study options in the arts, humanities, social sciences, cultural studies, computing, and entrepreneurial business and management. From the moment you enrol you’ll be part of a powerful legacy of learning.

Challenging courses
Goldsmiths is the perfect place to see the world differently. Built on our academics’ own research and often shaped by student input, our degrees give you the chance to delve into subjects you won’t find just anywhere. From curating exhibitions to creating documentaries, at Goldsmiths you’ll be limited by nothing but your imagination.

Inspiring teaching
You’ll be taught by and will debate with the best in the field: our academics are the people who write the books that appear on reading lists across the country, and they’re carrying out world-leading research in everything from media ownership to the next tech revolution. It’s one of the reasons that we’ve been ranked first in London for our high quality and helpful staff (Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2014).

Helping you shape your career
Our degrees respond to contemporary concerns and many include integrated work placements, so from the moment you join us we’ll be helping you shape your career. Through our dedicated Careers Service you’ll be able to receive guidance, attend industry panels and employee presentations, and develop your CV and job-hunting skills. And through schemes like the Erasmus+ study abroad programme, you can start to build a wealth of academic and co-curricular experience that will prepare you for a bright future.

London living in a small campus community
We are small but mighty – a close-knit community based on a single-site campus within London’s vibrant New Cross, an area that’s been described by The New York Times as a hub of creative talent. It’s just a short journey away from the centre of London, and all of the entertainment, facilities and opportunities it offers.

An impressive heritage
Former Goldsmiths students are shaping the socio-cultural landscape on a global scale, and include fashion designers, composers, published authors, broadcasters, journalists and entrepreneurs. Our alumni include Oscar-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen, Mercury Prize winner James Blake, and seven recipients of the Turner Prize.

Our Student Recruitment and Outreach team provide a range of campus-based and in-school activities for schools and teaching staff, and for students wishing to find out more about their options in terms of both study at Goldsmiths and Higher Education more broadly.
