Optometrists use the latest techniques and technology to recognise signs of ocular or general disease affecting the eyes and where appropriate prescribing spectacles or contact lenses. Students studying at City, University of London, benefit from access to state-of-the-art clinics and excellent professional links, including Moorfields Eye Hospital. 3rd year students also benefit from the opportunity to gain work experience in our City Sight clinic, a working opticians open to the general public. City, University of London is rated 1st in London and 2nd in the UK for Health Professions by the 2018 Guardian League Table. Join our 2018 Taster Day to find out more about this exciting profession at City, enjoy a tour of our labs and take part in a practical session.

This taster course is open to year 12 students only. Students should have, or be looking to achieve the following grades; A Level - AAB, A Levels must include two of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics. All students require a minimum of five GCSE passes at grade 4 (C) or above, including English Language and Mathematics.

When applying to this taster course you will be asked to submit in no more than 150 words why you are interested in studying this subject. You will be selected for this event based on your answer.
