This session supports all learners in crafting strong personal statements—offering tailored guidance on structure, content, and self-reflection. Delivered on or off campus, it’s designed to boost confidence and clarity, whether students are university-bound or still considering their options.
This session empowers students to write impactful personal statements for university applications. Whether learners are confident about their next steps or still exploring options, the session provides clear, structured guidance to help them reflect and write with purpose.
We begin by exploring what makes an effective personal statement—highlighting its role in UCAS, what admissions teams look for, and how students can showcase their experiences and motivations. Using practical writing techniques and model examples, students learn how to structure their statement, open with intent, and conclude with clarity.
Students engage in self-reflection exercises to identify relevant skills, interests, and achievements, and learn to link these to course choices. We offer tips for competitive subject areas, avoiding clichés, and tailoring content to their applications.
For groups who want more hands-on support, this talk can be extended into a writing workshop. By the end, students will have the knowledge and confidence to begin—or refine—their statement, ensuring it captures their strengths and aspirations effectively
