An introduction to the diverse range of topics within economics will emphasise its real-world relevance and that economics is not just about the macro economy as is commonly perceived, but also about the study of individual consumers, firms and industries in micro economics. Micro economics theory will be used to demonstrate the benefits of having intense competition between the firms in a market, and real-world examples will show how government authorities try to ensure that competition is not restricted.
