Full event details

This two hour taster session is aimed at students in years 12 and 13 thinking about degree courses in Early Years Childcare and working in a variety of roles in the early years sector which focuses around children aged 0-8 years old. Students will be given a tour around University Centre Farnborough (formerly known as Farnborough College of Technology) and will spend time with the course tutors who are all experts in their field with extensive experience in the sector.
University Centre Farnborough offer both foundation and honours degrees in Early Years and most students study for a 2 year foundation degree and then follow this with a one year honours top up, graduating after 3 years with a BA (Hons). The course involves several placements which help students gain practical experience as well as being able to put into practice the theory they have learnt. Degrees are awarded by the University of Surrey, a top ten university. The College was inspected in 2012 by the Quality Assurance Agency and was awarded the highest accolade for its higher education provision.
Students at Farnborough benefit from small class sizes and a high number of tutor contact hours. Tuition fees are £6,000 pa and lower than most universities. Graduates from these degree courses have gone onto work as play development officers, community nursery nurses, nursery managers, teaching assistant and to study for a PGCE to qualify as a primary school teacher.
