A 3-week summer school programme to be held at SOAS, University of London, on the topic of Gender, Conflict and Law.
Suitable for students aged 18 years and above.

Through looking at specific approaches to making women visible as actors in a range of conflicts in Asia, Africa and the Middle East students are encouraged to question assumptions about how gender operates in periods of armed conflict, to see the gendered structures of militaries and military behaviour, and of peace making endeavours, to be consistently gendered and yet experienced differently across global settings. Students will learn to use gender as a tool for analysis and to critically engage within institutional initiatives on women, peace and security.
