Working in Primary Education can be an immensely rewarding and fulfilling career. We are welcoming students who have applied, or are intending to apply for Primary Education courses to help you prepare for the application and interview process.
Gaining your place on Primary Education course can be highly competitive, so this twilight session aims to provide you with an invaluable insight into qualities the universities are looking for and will cover the following areas:
the type of questions that may be asked in interview
the sort of candidates the admissions tutors are looking for
what will make the best presentations
what the maths and English tests will involve
general interview techniques.
During the evening students have the opportunity to find out more about applying for Primary Education and specifically to the NTU Primary Education degree. Attendees will hear from NTU admissions staff and primary education students about the course, what information should be included in the UCAS personal statement and what to expect in the interview.*

*All suitable candidates for our BA (Hons) Primary Education will be required to sit an interview and complete Numeracy and Literacy Skills Tests before starting the course. During the interview candidates will have to deliver a presentation and complete some mandatory tests to assess their ability in Maths and English. We are inviting all students who have applied or are going to apply to a primary education course to come along to this session to ensure they are as well prepared as possible for this interview process. In addition, our tutors are looking for people who are serious about studying on this course and who are serious about a career as a primary teacher.
*For group bookings please be aware of the following:
We are required to target learners who are from disadvantaged backgrounds and statistically less likely to progress on to further and higher education. We are required to ensure that at least 66% of the learners who engage in our activities meet one or more of these criteria. These include learners who:
reside in deprived neighbourhoods, where progression rates to higher education are low
are from low socio-economic backgrounds
are currently in receipt of a post-16 bursary
are in receipt of free school meals
are currently looked-after / in care or have recently left care
have a disability
post-16 students on vocational qualifications in state funded institutions (who are doing no more than one standard A-level)
mature students (those on an Access course and / or those over 21-years-old).
We can help you identify a cohort if you could provide us with the postcodes of learners within your group and an explanation of how they meet the above criteria. Please contact us for more information.
