Full event details

Art does not speak for itself, and art historians adopt diverse methods in their attempts to answer the many questions that it provokes. In this one-day course, staff from the Institute will provide lectures and tours illustrating their own approaches to a variety of European works from antiquity to the present day. Students will have a chance for group discussions in the presence of famous paintings in the Courtauld Gallery and there will be an opportunity to experience undergraduate-style teaching. The course is for anyone who wishes to sample the learning of art history at this level, and especially for those who are thinking of applying for a BA course in the history of art at the Courtauld or elsewhere. The course is open to all.
