Widening Participation Travel Bursary - Visit Days and Open Days

We understand that travel costs can be a barrier when invited to attend a University event. We would like to offer you a travel bursary of up to £100 to help cover these costs.

To be eligible for this bursary you must firstly have been invited to attend either 1 of our 5 Applicant offer holder days, Interview selection days or booked on to attend one of our Open Days. Further you must also meet 1 of the 6 widening participation criteria stated below:

• Current home postcode shows that you live in an area that falls within the lowest 20 per cent of the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD). This is identified as IMD Quintile 1 on our postcode checker.
• Have previously been in local authority care or looked after for three months or more
• Are estranged from your family. (You must be under 25 years old and will be studying without the support of your family. Estranged students typically have no contact with their parents and you don’t expect this to change in the near future).
• Have attended the Experience UoS Residential
• Currently on Ignite your Journey
• Received Free School Meals after the age of 14
