An introduction to studying physiotherapy with the University of Winchester.
This webinar is hosted by Jon Cheek, the Founder and Director of UniTasterDays. Guidance is provided for students to help them make good choices when considering university. The guest speaker for this event Amanda Pike, a Physiotherapy Lecturer at the University of Winchester. Amanda describes what a physiotherapy degree is, how long it takes to complete and who it is validated by. She goes on to talk about the state-of-the-art facilities that are available at university for physiotherapy students, as well as the experienced academics’ and practicing clinician’s you will be taught by to ensure you are provided with the most up-to-date teaching.
The session also covers the aims of a physiotherapy course, such as integrating anatomy, physiology, psychology and elements of pharmacology as well as real patient experience to enhance your academic studies.
As a physiotherapy student you will have a variety of opportunities and projects which will not only be relevant to your academic studies, but also beneficial for your career prospects.
The course consists of diverse learning and teaching styles such as collaborating with nursing students and dissection room opportunities. This course requires you to undertake a placement and Amanda explains the wide variety of settings you can gain experience in and how many hours you will be required to complete as an undergraduate student. Finally, she talks about how you will be assessed on the course ranging from written assignments to exams and work-based tests.
