This webinar is hosted by Jon Cheek, the Founder and Director of UniTasterDays. Guidance is provided for students to help them make good choices when considering university. The guest speaker for this session is Dr Fiona Walkley, a Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Hull.
An introduction to studying marketing at university. With the University of Hull. Including courses, careers and application tips Fiona begins the session by explaining the benefits of studying marketing at university such as higher than average projected job growth and job security, with this being a fast-moving and dynamic sector.
She goes on to look at the different types of marketing courses available; the two types being single honours courses and joint honours. The undergraduate degree consists of a wide variety of modules, some of which are compulsory and some which are optional. Fiona looks at the kind of modules you will study in the different years of your degree.
One of the modules many universities have on offer is digital marketing and social media. Fiona highlights the importance of this module, not only in terms of the skills you will gain but also for regarding future employability.
Every university will differ in the ways the course is taught and it is important to know which features to look out for on this course such as a placement year and a sandwich course. Fiona underlines why you should look for institutions where you can gain practical experience and develop close industry links. Finally, she goes over personal and professional skills employers look for when taking on marketing graduates.
