This webinar is hosted by Jon Cheek, the Founder and Director of UniTasterDays. Guidance is provided for students to help them make good choices when considering university. The guest speaker for this event is Dr Matthew Hill, a Lecturer in Geography at the University of Huddersfield. Why study geography
Matthew speaks about why you should study geography at university and why it is a rewarding degree – you are able to tackle global and environmental issues and make an impact in the world. He explains how everyday will be different on a geography course and talks about what you can expect from the degree.
There are many sides to geography and Matthew talks about what kind of topics you can study and specialise in. He looks at the transferable skills you will gain ranging from practical field skills to communication, and these are skills which are highly valued by employers across all disciplines. Finally he looks at careers you can go into after you graduate with a degree in geography and shares application tips. Session summary from Rubaya Zaman, a final year English Literature student at the University of Birmingham.
