Student Recruitment and Outreach team

We organise a range of events and activities to help prospective students find out about the range of options in higher education, and at the University of Suffolk specifically.

We are committed to providing information, advice and guidance to all prospective students, their families, teachers and advisors, and we travel across the UK and Europe to support people in making decisions about higher education. We deliver talks and workshops in schools and colleges, attend community events, parents evenings, education fairs and organise on-campus activities.

What we can offer

We would be delighted to attend any events that you may be running, such as Careers Fairs or Parents' Evenings. Our wide variety of talks and workshops suit different age groups as outlined below. Topics we could cover include:

Why Go to University: Information about the benefits of studying at university and where a degree can lead, suitable for years 9-12 and parents.

Making Choices: Advice on choosing a course and university, suitable for year 12.

Student Finance: A detailed look at what financial support is on offer for students, how to apply and some advice on budgeting when at university Suitable for years 12-13 and parents.

The UCAS Application Process and Writing a Personal Statement: An overview of how to apply through UCAS and advice on how to write a strong personal statement. Suitable for years 12-13 (prior to UCAS deadline).

Clearing: Advice for students who wish to use Clearing to find a university place, suitable for year 13.

Student Life: A look into life as a student, including information on living away from home, student workloads, social life and what to expect when you arrive Suitable for years 12-13.

We also offer two interactive activities for you to use in schools and colleges:

  • Lesson in a box - aimed at year 12 students and the boxes are designed to be used during school time to introduce different courses to students. Each box contains easy-to-follow lesson plans, materials, digital footage and student feedback forms.
  • Unlock university - this is an experience is a FREE interactive group activity designed for Year 12 and 13 students to give them more information about preparing for university and life as a student.
