Discovery Day Introduction – 9.30-10.00

10.00 -10.45 – Session 1 TEACHING ENGLISH TO SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES “How do you get to know a word in English?”

10.45 - 12.00 – Session 2 ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS “Linguistic puzzles: reading and writing insights from unfamiliar languages”.

12.00 -12.30 LUNCH

12.30-13.30 – Session 3 CREATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL WRITING “Character characterisation techniques, putting a character into a place, killer opening techniques”

13.30-14.30 – Session 4 ENGLISH LITERATURE “Othello: Text, Context, Politics”

14.30 – WRAP UP & AMBASSADOR DISCUSSION
