This masterclass series is for Year 12 and Year 13 students who are studying A-level Computing and you must be able to attend all 3 dates (12,19 and 26 January). The sessions are free to attend and are delivered online.

You will develop a VR world over the course of three weeks using the web-based A-Frame library. Through this, you will understand and use event-driven paradigms. Let your friends explore your final VR world on the web, or explore it yourself using Google Cardboard and a mobile phone.

The sessions are:
Session 1: 3D in the browser
12 January, 16:00 – 17:30
In this session you will cover: (I) review of HTML and an introduction to 3D on the web; (ii) object-oriented patterns, and how to work with the library A-Frame; (iii) working with the xyz coordinate space, and setting up a basic scene

Session 2: Event-driven paradigm
19 January, 16:00 - 17:30
In this session, the focus will be on: (I) making something happen, and events triggered by user interaction; (ii) writing JavaScript

Session 3: WebVR
26 January, 16:00 – 17:30
Bringing all your work together and finishing your scenes with added functionality

Glitch
We will be using Glitch to create and host our 3D worlds online, so please create a free account on Glitch (https://glitch.com/). We will be able to explore our worlds in desktop browsers. If you would like to explore your world in VR at the end of the course, you can use any type of Google Cardboard (https://arvr.google.com/cardboard/) with a smartphone or use web browsers in VR headsets, such as Oculus Quest.
