Human rights are a surprisingly recent framework for pursuing justice, only becoming part of wider public consciousness in the latter part of the twentieth century.

The meaning of ‘human rights’ continues to incite debate amongst philosophers and lawyers, often suggesting that distinctions can be drawn between real human rights and fake human rights. However, such theoretical questions have dramatic real-world implications as this taster course will illustrate.

Time: A few hours (1.30pm - 4pm).
