Philosophy: Guardians for Future Generations

How can we best care for future generations of people who will live on this planet after us? This is a question that political philosophers have generally been unable to give a convincing or adequate answer to. Dr Rupert Read has developed a radical new proposal aimed at giving future generations a voice in democratic decision making: create a council of Guardians for Future Generations to sit on the houses of parliament. During this session you will take part in debate and group discussion about why we should care about future people and whether Rupert's idea would work to achieve that end.
