This session will involve an introduction to game theory and aim to familiarise students with the concept of a dominant strategy and a mixed strategy Nash equilibrium. We will discuss Adam Smith’s ‘invisible hand’ and contrast it with the work of John Nash. We will use a number of games to illustrate this; the Prisoner’s Dilemma, Bachelor Pad, Matching Pennies and Competitive Sport.
