It gives us great pleasure to invite you to Professor Taylor’s Inaugural Lecture. This is one of a series of lectures held each year, which help raise the profile of our Professors and also offer an opportunity for work and research in their specialist field to be made available to a wide and varied audience.

Professor Taylor, Professor of Power Systems and Director of the Brunel Institute of Power Systems in the School of Engineering and Design will deliver his Inaugural Lecture entitled “The global energy crisis – future scenarios and solutions”. The lecture starts at 5.30pm and will open with a welcome speech from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Julia Buckingham, and will conclude with light refreshments.

Lecture Abstract
Global electrical power and energy consumption can be viewed as a key challenge to sustaining the earth's climate and natural resources, and therefore requires the following future solutions in which individual and global power and energy requirements can be sustained without over compromising rising standards of living;
• Reduction of individual energy use
• Deployment of smart electricity grid technologies
• Greater utilization of renewable energy sources: Large and small scale
• Reduce global dependence on coal, oil and gas
• Multi and inter disciplinary research collaboration
