Crime and punishment from the Tudors to today

Studying history, especially titillating topics such as murder and mayhem, is often interesting for its own sake. However, examining crime and punishment in the past can also serve a valuable purpose. Exploring these histories can help us understand the very different nature of British society before the modern era. It can also make it easier to understand today’s concerns about violence, ‘anti-social behaviour’ and problems in the justice system.

Birkbeck University of London Get Inspired Programme

Birkbeck is a world-class research and teaching institution offering evening higher education. We are now offering the opportunity to join our vibrant centre of academic excellence for a series of inspirational taster lectures lead by our experienced and friendly academic staff.

The sessions are aimed at those looking to study at undergraduate level for the first time and wanting an insight into what it would be like to study a particular subject area at Birkbeck, University of London.

Each session is designed to give students a better understanding of a specific subject area being taught at Birkbeck and to outline some of the academic skills required to study at a university level.
