This year marks the 175 anniversary of the Penny Black stamp and so we think it’s only fair that we celebrate this fantastic landmark! To mark the occasion we have joined forces with both the House of Illustration and the Hay Festival to offer a magnificent programme of events, highlighting illustration within stamp design.

We will be proudly exhibiting work commissioned exclusively from an international group of renowned illustrators. Each artist has also been asked personally respond to this landmark anniversary by decorating and embellishing an envelope. This unique collection of new work will celebrate the art of postal communication and can be viewed at our College Road campus

On Thursday 30th April we are opening our doors to some of the biggest names in stamp design to host a series of talks. Guest speakers include:
David Gentleman: Preeminent illustrator and designer of some of the UK's most enduring stamp designs.
Brian Webb: Co-founder of award winning design group Trickett & Webb. Designer of postage stamps and biographer of David Gentleman.
Naomi Games: Daughter of legendary Graphic Designer Abram Games.
