Art history: What it is and Why it Matters Sixth Form Study Afternoon

This event is aimed at sixth form students who might be interested in studying History of Art at university. Students in year 12 or 13 are welcome to attend. The event will give you the opportunity to experience teaching in the subject and get a feel for what it is like to study History of Art at university.

The afternoon will take the form of three 30 minute talks by individual members of academic staff on different topics, including Damien Hirst, Botticelli, and images of the body. There will be a concluding 30 minute question and answer session.

We shall also have an interval where sixth-formers can talk informally to current students and academics in the Department about studying History of Art at university, about applications, and about the careers that history of art graduates go on to pursue.

Venue: The event will be held in the Barber Institute of Fine Arts on the University campus, and students will have the opportunity to look at the collections of world class art on display in the galleries of the Barber.
