A basic introduction to the French concept of Auteur Theory, with special emphasis on the films of Alfred Hitchcock.

The session raises questions as to the validity of this as a ‘theory’ and the problems of how to define a film within the parameters of this framework.

This session is suitable for students doing courses in media and film studies.
