Food and Nutritional Sciences courses are multidisciplinary, encompassing food chemistry, microbiology, nutrition, quality assurance, sensory analysis, management, food engineering and manufacturing. They are very practical and frequently involve industrial training.

The Food and Nutritional Sciences Summer School aims to show budding scientists how exciting these subjects really are. The University of Reading has hosted this taster course since 1987 and it has proved to be extremely popular, inspiring many students to go on to study food and nutritional sciences at university.

Amongst other things you will:

• Hear about hot topics affecting the food we eat
• Take part in a business game run by Marks & Spencer which will demonstrate how difficult it is to produce safe, appealing sandwiches on a commercial scale.
