Three day non residential Summer School for Year 12 students
When: Monday 9 July-Wednesday 11 July 2012
Where: Derby Campus
Time: 9am-3.30pm (each day)
Who: Year 12 and Level 3 students
With a focus on creating a strong supply of scientists, engineers and technologists help to boost the UK economy it's even more important to make your students aware of the different opportunities available to them. This summer school has been designed to give your students the chance to experience what studying a STEM subject at university could be like. It'll encourage them to think about subjects they might not usually consider and challenge them through three days of activities and interactive sessions.
Technology and engineering
The technology and engineering summer school sessions have been organised and designed by staff and academics from our School of Art Design and Technology. The sessions will be creative, interactive and require students to work to a brief.
Students can choose from:
product design
electronics
motorsport.
These sessions are being held at our Markeaton Street site (part of the Derby Campus).
Science and maths
Over the course of three days your students will be set a challenge to complete by our experienced academics and will have to work to a brief, in groups. The sessions will be interactive, engaging and thought provoking. Students can choose from:
biology and forensics
geographical, earth and environmental sciences
maths.
These sessions are being held at our Kedleston Road site (part of the Derby Campus).

should choose one session that they'd like to take part in for the three days
must attend all three days
can make their own way to each day; teachers aren't required to accompany
