In 2021, more than 20,000 deaths were attriuted to gun violence in USA, through murders, accidents, homicides and other related crimes, the highest figure since 2014 (Gun Violence Archive, 2022, https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/past-tolls). So with such a high, and increasing, rate of gun violence, why is the culture surrounding the use and owning of guns in America still so strong?

Join us to explore the role of culture and sub-culture in relation to behaviours and social issues surrounding gun violence, investigate the other global cultures' views on the issue, and apply this knowledge to the subject of gun culture and the prevalence of school shootings in the USA, and the complexities of tackling the related issues.

This session will last around 60 minutes, with plenty of time for audience questions.
