Full event details

The masterclass session will be an important addition to the curriculum and will be of particular interest to students studying GCSEs, BTECs, Access programmes and A Levels in Health and Social Care and Social Science related subject areas.

In small groups students will explore youth homelessness, mental health, together with drug misuse in youths today. Students will gain a general understanding about the impact of these contemporary issues and discover possible solutions.

We will present students with a case study about a youth who is homeless and experiencing poor mental health and drug misuse issues. Students will be asked to consider how they think the young person’s situation could be addressed. This will involve peer group discussion and sharing their thoughts.

Having gained an overview around these important issues, we will discuss the various professional roles that may be involved with a young person (through the case study) and in similar situations - and the positive impact that these professionals can really make to an individual’s life.

Students will learn about the current degrees that are on offer to enable them to attain the various career paths, including our newest course 'BA (Hons) Housing and Youth Homelessness'

- The Masterclass will last approximately one hour and up to 90 minutes.

- The maximum number of students would be 30-35 students.

- Can be delivered at your institution or at the University of Wolverhampton Campuses.
