English webinar - Unlocking poetry: three ways to read a poem

Poetry can seem to belong to someone else and to want to keep its secrets, but it is everywhere, and for everybody. Even famous poems may not have secrets so much as surprises and there are ways of reading that help uncover those surprises.

Join this session with three academics from English at the University of Southampton to see diverse close readings of poetry written between the medieval period and the present day and take part in a conversation about why analysing poetry matters. This session will also provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about studying poetry at University or writing your own poetry at University.
