Full event details

This autumn we are thrilled to announce the launch of our North West Young Critics Prize. This event will allow students to develop their research and academic writing skills whilst participating in an exciting competition with other students from across the North West.

During this event, students will be invited to write a review surrounding this year’s theme: wellbeing. Students can be creative with this theme and review either the subject of wellbeing or something that supports their own wellbeing. For example, a book on psychology or their favourite comfort film. We will be awarding National Book Tokens holding the value of £50, £30 and £20 to the top three winners.

We will be hosting two sessions in conjunction with this competition:

Session One - Thursday 18th November 2021 at Edge Hill University

During the first session, students will attend an overview of the competition, an introduction to review writing skills, and will be given the opportunity to use our library facilities for research.

If you are unable to attend this date, we are offering an alternative 1-hour session, either virtually or in schools and colleges. This session will encompass all the information students need to take part in the competition.

Session Two - Wednesday 16th March 2021 at Edge Hill University

The second session will be a celebration event, including a presentation of the students' reviews, a prize giving, a campus tour, and course information.

If you would like to book your students or yourself a place on this event please book using the link or email [email protected] if you have any questions.
