The University of East London hosts Your Future Summer Challenge 2021. This is a jam-packed series of Summer Schools, in 6 subject areas. Each summer school is across three days taking place from 10.30-15.30 each day with events, activities, and career sessions, to inform their future. Open to 16-19-year-olds.
The University of East London is very excited to announce Your Future Summer School Challenge 2021 to current year 12/FE1/Level 3 students, aged 16-18, across six subject areas.

- Psychology
- Media, Film and Journalism
- Law and Justice
- Biomedical Science
Each Summer School will run for three days and is designed to bring degree subjects to you in an interactive and inspiring way along with workshops to build on skills and knowledge to navigate University. Each Summer School will run from 10.30 am - 15.30 pm.

28th, 29th & 30th June
Engineering; Discover the World of Engineering
Challenge yourself and build your engineering knowledge! On this hands-on summer school, you will be applying both familiar and new concepts in mechanics and engineering to the aeronautical industry. You will be delivering to an industry led brief and expanding your awareness through both virtual and physical experiments. Sessions will be led by an ex-Airbus employee, now a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of East London, about the revolutionary materials technology used in today’s commercial engineering and how that is embedded in our engineering courses here at the University of East London.
5th, 6th & 7th July
Psychology; The Big Think: Discover Psychology Today
Challenge your thinking and discover what makes us who we are and how we behave. This year we will focus on psychological wellbeing, what is it, how can we improve it. We will explore these questions using various methodological perspectives in Psychology, working to a brief including exciting new insights from Cyberpsychology, Environmental Psychology, and Positive Education. You will gain first-hand research experience and discover more about your future in Psychology today. The Psychology Summer School will combine masterclasses with leading researchers at UEL, interactive sessions, and offline activities giving you the experience of working together on Psychological concepts.
12th, 13th & 14th July
Media, Film, and Journalism; Communication in the Creative Industries: What's the story?
We are social beings. We tell stories to form social bonds, assist others, and manage how we are perceived. The Internet has facilitated communication between and among many people. As a result, we continue to share stories daily. We send out a Tweet, upload a photo to Instagram, or a short video to TikTok.
19th, 20th & 21st July
Law and Justice
Our Law and Justice Summer School Challenge will introduce you to key concepts in Law, Criminology, and Policing, empowering you to see how all three come together to uphold justice.
26th, 27th & 28th July
Biomedical Science; How Bioscientists investigate (and help solve) clinical problems
Join our Bioscience Summer School Challenge to discover the main diagnostic tests used to investigate diseases (including Covid-19), understand the analysis of breathing capacity of patients with respiratory conditions, learn about research tools used by scientists to understand how pathogens work, discuss the efficacy of current Covid-19 vaccines, and possible developments of new (or repurposing of existing) drugs, and designing altogether new drugs to deal with different variants of SARS-CoV-2.
*This Summer School will be based on campus and maybe subject to change dependent on government guidelines
