UEL's first Teachers and Advisers Conference will be taking place on 25th May 2021! The event, which runs from 10.00pm - 12.30pm will focus on Supporting Student Success. You will hear from key departments and get to grips with the multifaceted and comprehensive support offered to the student body.
UEL’s first Teachers and Advisers Conference, dedicated to Supporting Student Success, will highlight the holistic support offered by UEL in a multitude of ways, including financial, wellbeing, inclusivity, with a central theme of making UEL students career ready.

Dr Ian Pickup - Pro Vice Chancellor (Education & Experience) and COO, University of East London will be bringing it all together by talking about what it means to be a careers-led university, the golden thread of careers in everything on offer at UEL, our differences as strengths, wellbeing at the core of success, as well as Vision 2028 which aims to support students to thrive in every aspect of their lives – academically, socially, economically, mentally and more.
Nic Streatfield, Head Of Student Support & Wellbeing and Nigel Meeson, Disability & Dyslexia Team Manager, will focus on what support students can get transitioning to university and the flexible and wide-ranging and specialist support available to students at UEL, including disability support, drop in advice sessions, and online mental health and wellbeing services.
Kayleigh Gibson, Coaching and Mentoring Manager and Raksha Mehta, Placements Manager from Careers and Student Enterprise will be showcasing the comprehensive range of opportunities such as UEL’s student internship programme, networking events, and the professional mentoring scheme, which includes mentors from companies such as London City Airport, BT Sport, Canary Wharf Group, Barclays, Credit Suisse, Accenture and HSBC.
Gaurav Malik from the Department of Engineering and Computing will be offering the Academic's perspective on how UEL has adapted it’s courses to embed Professional Fitness and Mental Wealth, ensuring that students are equipped for success once they’ve moved on from UEL. He will also talk about how Colleges and Sixth Forms can prepare students for university.
Gary Tindell, Business Intelligence Specialist, will demonstrate "Track My Future", a UEL app for students that empowers students to take control of their student journey.
You’ll also be able to hear from UEL students who will talk about their experiences in a Question and Answer session as well as in some of the sessions.
