Architects deal with technical and artistic issues and look at the way buildings shape experiences, explains Des. He looks at the different routes there are to become an architect, how long it takes and the different professional bodies that validate courses and provide membership to newly qualified architects.

Des goes on to look at the structure of an undergraduate degree which will allow you to develop your design ideas and work on a dissertation project in your final year. Finally, Des speaks about field trips on this course and shares some portfolio tips for your application.
