This webinar is hosted by Jon Cheek, the Founder and Director of UniTasterDays. Guidance is provided for students to help them make good choices when considering university. The guest speakers for this event are Sophie Craven, the Schools and Colleges Liaison Officer at the University of Huddersfield and Farhana Begum, the Go Higher West Yorkshire Outreach Officer at the University of Bradford.

Revision techniques and tips
Sophie talks about revising during the Covid-19 pandemic which is an uncertain time for GCSE and A-Level students regarding their exams. She focuses on what good revision looks like and how to manage your time when you have a lot to do. She goes on to share some practical revision tips such as taking notes, attending revision sessions and completing past papers.

When taking notes it is important to be organised, otherwise it can be overwhelming when looking back when you revise. Sophie talks about three different note-taking methods and which is best for you: linear, cornell and pattern. Finally, she explains how you can make revising creative and fun through a range of different techniques, and shares useful apps for revision.

The importance of a positive mindset
Farhana explains the importance of having a positive mindset and attitude when undertaking any task. She shares some tips for managing your mindset, and talks about how to shift from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

In order to do this you need to seek solutions not problems, and think positively when things don’t always go right. Farhana gives some practical ideas to achieving your goals and speaks about the benefits of having a positive attitude. Finally, she looks at how you can keep a positive attitude going when working towards a goal.
