In this online event, we’ll give you an introduction to humanitarianism and explore some of the key issues in humanitarian studies, such as ethics, climate change, economics and international relations. You’ll work together in groups identifying risks, challenges and resolutions, as well as hearing about some of the positive impacts real organisations have on the ground.
There will be plenty of opportunity for you to meet our teaching staff and ask questions about the sector, the course and studying in the UCL Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction (IRDR). You'll leave the session with a better understanding of humanitarianism and we'll provide you with our recommended resources to explore more after the event.
The IRDR is a multidisciplinary centre for research and teaching at UCL. Our staff and students come from a wide range of backgrounds and, together with our extensive professional networks, this makes the IRDR an exciting environment in which to study. Unique in the UK, the Global Humanitarian Studies BSc has been created in collaboration with key organisations in the sector, providing you with the core skills and knowledge required to become a humanitarian professional.
