Masterclasses give students the opportunity to explore academic subjects of interest beyond what's covered in the school curriculum. Delivered by a leading member of academic staff. Specifically designed for students studying A-levels and other level 3 qualifications.
In this interactive online workshop we will explore how the life experiences of the ‘real world’ impact on professional practice and are highly valuable in helping people think how their own experiences are valued, respected and can be used to help you gain a degree which enables you to work with people in communities, social care, schools, charities etc. to help make the world a fair place for all.
We will look at successful and inspiring community/educational projects that make a real difference to people’s lives and consider how an individual (such as yourself) can help make that difference. We value the life experiences of our students and this masterclass is the first step to help you consider how your own skills and experiences can help you match up the ‘real world’ with academic learning.
Whether your experiences are in school/ college, in part or full time work, as carers, as parents, this masterclass is designed to help you explore how those are the very things that can help you build a career to help make the world a fairer place for everyone.
We're delivering our Masterclasses virtually at the moment, to continue allowing you access to our amazing sessions delivered by expert academics. Throughout the sessions we will aim to meet individual needs, allow space for reflection and include time for conversations to share experiences and knowledge within the 'virtual' room.
Our virtual Masterclasses are approximately an hour long, but may run longer if we have a lot of questions.
If you are a teacher or tutor and would like for your whole class to get involved, drop us an email at
[email protected] and we'll see how we can help you. Bespoke events may be possible for schools and colleges, at times that suit you, dependent on academic availability.
Attendees at these masterclasses will receive a reduced offer of up to 16 points for future applications to related University of Cumbria courses. Full terms and conditions can be found on our website.
