Since its inception over 130 years ago, Edge Hill university has grown and diversified into a Top 10 Modern University dedicated to shaping the minds and changing the futures of its vibrant community of almost 10,000 students who choose to study on the university’s award-winning campus.

Located in the thriving Lancashire town of Ormskirk in the heart of the North West, students study in a region with real personality benefitting from life at a campus-based university, offering everything within easy reach, as well as access to some of the UK’s most exciting cities, including Liverpool and Manchester. Recently shortlisted for the prestigious University of the Year title at the WhatUni Student Choice Awards, Edge Hill is recognised by students as Best in the North West for its outstanding facilities, job prospects and exceptional student support (WUSCA, 2020).

A place to learn

Edge Hill is proud of its high-quality teaching, ranked Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF 2017) and in the top third of UK universities. This is complemented by achieving the Teaching Excellence Spotlight Award (2018), which recognises Edge Hill as one of the world’s finest teaching institutions. Students will discover a learning community where staff and students work together to create knowledge and opportunity. Taught by experts in their field passionate about the subject they teach, students will feel inspired and challenged throughout the duration of their course.

A place to grow

At Edge Hill, students can take advantage of life-changing opportunities to study abroad, undertake academic placements and internships, gain work experience, volunteer or even learn a new language – transformational opportunities that will boost life skills and enable students to stand out in a crowded employment market. Joining clubs and societies is also a great way to make lifelong social connections. Whether learning new skills or indulging in an existing hobby or interest, Edge Hill offers countless opportunities to broaden horizons, make new memories and provide an enriching student experience.
