Full event details

Our expert academics will lead sessions in a wide range of subject areas from economics to drama and maths to biosciences.

Your pupils will be able to experience three different subjects that are available to study at the University of Birmingham, along with touring the campus, talking to current students and experiencing a taste of university life at Birmingham.

All subject sessions will explore the theme of climate change within their topic area, along with a festive twist of course! The activities that your pupils take part in will advance their understanding of topics, invigorate their interest in the subject area and motivate them to pursue further study in the field.

This is an excellent opportunity for pupils to experience learning in a university environment and will be of particular interest to pupils considering the University of Birmingham.

Teachers are welcome to come along to the subject sessions with their pupils or there will be a break-out room available to use for the day along with WiFi access. There will also be an information session for teachers led by our experts in student recruitment and admissions where refreshments will be provided.

The general programme for the day will be as follows:

9.45 – 10.15am – Registration
10.15am – Welcome
10.30am – Subject session 1
11.30am – Subject session 2
12.30pm – Lunch break and campus tour
1.30pm – Subject session 3
2.30pm – Depart

Book your slot for a minimum of 10 students now (http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/tasterday) and in November we will send a link for the pupils to register their interest for their three subject sessions. Pupils will have the option to select a reserve subject session and we will ask for their A-level subject choices to best place them. Please be aware that subject sessions are booked on a first come first served basis and some may require specific A-level subjects (this will be highlighted).

Minibuses are welcome at the university and we can arrange for free parking (subject to availability) and we also have a train station on campus (University) for those wishing to arrive by train. As the programme is full with activities we do ask that pupils bring along a packed lunch as there will not be adequate time to purchase food on campus.
