Full event details

This session looks at a variety of objects in the University's collections and considers the kind of body image(s) they put forward. Participants will be encouraged to think about how bodies and body image have been constructed within the history of art, considering things like beauty and the ideal body, racialized bodies, gendered and queer bodies, and who is looking at who in such constructions. We will think about how such concepts have changed or persist in today's society and how certain bodies/images are disseminated and given cultural value through platforms like Instagram.

Additional Information: Schools will be limited to 5 places for this class. Individual bookings can be made by students in Year 12 and 13. If there is sufficient interest, we may be able to offer this class twice during the Masterclasses programme.
