Lancaster University Physics Masterclasses are one-day taster events that showcase the fascinating and fundamental physics research being carried out at Lancaster University. Hosted in the Lancaster Physics Department, masterclasses consist of a mix of research-themed lectures and hands-on activities delivered by our staff and students.
The aim of the Lancaster University Physics Masterclass programme is to encourage students to study Physics at university by providing a taste of the cutting-edge physics research being undertaken at Lancaster University. We organise a series of masterclasses every year, each with a different theme based on our own programme of research. Each masterclass consists of interactive lectures and hands-on activities delivered by our academic staff, professional researchers, and PhD students. The material is targeted at students in Years 12 and 13, and is designed to supplement the A-Level syllabus. Students have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss physics with our research staff, and to find out about the Lancaster physics degree.
