This event links core subjects to the world of work and HE. Pupils will take part in workshops which provide an overview to related careers and include an interactive activity linked to the curriculum. Perfect to develop their knowledge and awareness of where their most crucial subjects can take them!
Looking for an event to link classroom learning to the world of work? Join us at our Core Subject Career event where Maths, English and Science will take centre stage. All three workshops will include three components:
1. A brief background talk from the speaker to give pupils and idea of the variety of entry routes into HE and into a career linked to the subject area.
2. An interactive activity which links to the curriculum and allows pupils to practice some of the skills they have learnt back in the classroom. Activities are designed to be suitable for all ability groups.
3. An exploration of careers related to the subject, often utilising personal connections of the speaker in order to provide realistic and relatable knowledge of potential career routes of pupils.
The event will also include an introductory talk which highlights the importance of the core subjects in order to access HE and careers. Pupils will also receive a campus tour where they will have the opportunity to quiz current HE students on their experiences of university.
The event will run from 09:30 - 14:30.
