Trump and the American Presidency
This session looks at the power of the contemporary presidential office and how it is being shaped by President Trump. It considers the reasons for his success in the 2016 election, his demographic support, the problems of opinion polling and the reasons for Clinton’s failure. It also considers the calls for the removal of Trump from office and how this might be achieved by those in opposition to him.
The talk considers the powers of the presidential office and the limitations placed on these by the Constitution, checks and balances and the separation of powers
