Subject Taster Event - Film & Visual Culture

How do you ‘Read’ a Film?
This two-hour session will begin with an hour-long lecture
introducing the idea of ‘reading’ a film; it will look at key
elements of film style such as mise-en-scene, cinematography, and
editing, using examples from a range of well-known films. After
the lecture, we will discuss as a group the idea that films are a
‘reflection’ of contemporary culture and society.
