The News in History - Social media has led many to question its relationship to democracy and truth, with widespread concerns about ‘fake news’ and media targeting. This is not the first time that new forms of media have caused concern, or real historical change. This session will explore some of those connections.

Italian Fascism: European and Local Contexts - This session will seek to understand Italian fascism from two perspectives, offering alternative understandings to typical accounts of 'mutilated peace' and Mussolini's charisma.

Media have several workshops, including:

Script-writing workshop - students can develop ideas for films
Social media workshop - examining how politicians and public figures use social media
Environmentalism workshop - looking at representations of animals in wildlife documentaries.

Sessions can be delivered on campus or, if you are local to Keele, in your school/college. All events are subject to staff and space availability. Please specify your topic preference in your request. Talks can be adapted to last for anywhere between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
