The Game of Thrones novels and TV series provide excellent opportunities for introducing students to questions of genre, mode and adaptation. The morning session will concentrate on Epic, Saga and Fantasy through the exploration of literary examples and comparisons with R. R. Martin's texts. In the afternoon, students will consider the challenges and successes of adaptation as well as the issues of canonicity that arise out of the TV series running ahead of its source material.

This event is suitable for a group of 30 Year 12/13 students, and will be hosted at Birmingham City University's City Centre Campus.
