Full event details

Our Department of Health Sciences include Sport & Exercise Science, Sport & Physical Education, Sport Psychology, Biological Sciences, Biology, Human Biology and Nutrition, in addition to a range of postgraduate courses. In 2016 we opened our brand new £8.5 million Health Science Building, which features specialist laboratory spaces dedicated to nutrition, genomics, cell biology and psychology, along with laboratories and space for Sport and Exercise Science. In addition, our £5.5 million Hope Park Sports Building (opened September 2016), features a main sports hall with 6 courts and a viewing gallery, squash courts, gym and fitness rooms and strength and conditioning suites.

Our Sports Nutrition OR Energy Balance and Health MOT Taster Session is taking place on Thursday 16th March 2017
Here is a scheduled of the day,

9.30am-10am /
12.30pm-1pm Arrival at Liverpool Hope. The event will begin promptly at 10am/1pm

10am-11.50am /
1pm-2.50pm Sports drinks taster: Learn about the science behind sports drinks and as take part in a practical involving tasting and making your own sports drink, in our state-of-the-art Nutrition lab.
Energy balance and health MOT taster: Students will learn about what affects our body weight, energy balance and basal metabolic rate and how we can measure these. Estimate your own metabolic rate and measure height, weight, BMI, waist-to-hip ratio, body composition (fat mass, lean body mass, total body water) and blood pressure for a full health MOT.
