Event Summary:

We are delighted to invite you and your Level 3 Politics students to our Subject Conferences hosted by the Department of History and Politics. These free conferences are designed to supplement your students’ current or future studies.

Full Event Details:

Liverpool Hope University is 1st in the North West and 4th in the UK for overall Student Satisfaction from the 2016 National Student Survey, with History scoring 100% Satisfaction. The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017 names Liverpool Hope University 2nd in the UK for teaching excellence and 1st in the North West student experience, with the University being rated in the top 50 of UK universities.

The Subject conference is on Wednesday 1st March 2017
From 2pm – 4.15pm at our Hope Park Campus, Hope Park, Liverpool, L16 9JD.
1pm-2pm Optional Campus Tour (Please advise if you would like to book spaces on a tour)
1.30pm-2pm Arrival at Hope. The Conference will begin promptly at 2pm. Lunch facilities are available if students arrive early.
2pm – 2.15pm Welcome to Liverpool Hope
2.15pm-3.15pm The challenges facing the Trump presidency: the power of the presidential office Following the election of Trump questions have arisen about the power and credibility of the office of The US president. This talk looks at the outcomes of a disputed election, division among the populace and the policy positions facing Trump.
3.15pm-4.15pm Feminism in the contemporary world
The session will explore the usefulness of notions of patriarchy and gender to have a more holistic understanding of the contemporary world, for example in terms of political leadership, contemporary conflicts and the world economy.
4.15pm – 4.30pm Closing Address and Q & A
4.30pm Depart Hope

The team can deliver our interactive presentations and workshops at your school/college or, alternatively, students can be brought to one of our beautiful campuses to experience what it is like to be a student.

Our Student Recruitment team with students, teachers and careers advisers deliver impartial information, advice and guidance showcasing the benefits of university.

Our aim is to inspire young minds, increase engagement of learners in our local and wider community and to increase access to higher education for all.
