Have you had a closer look at the screen of your smartphone or a printed newspaper? Are you curious why a picture can be constructed of a mosaic of tiny points of only three colours? This masterclass provides an excellent taster session on Applied Physics and gives you the opportunity to understand the science of colour and light through demonstrating the basics of how RGB displays work and are controlled. Two simple experiments will introduce you to the fundamentals of light and colour by using LEDs, lenses, prisms and diffraction gratings to see how white light is composed of many colours and how several colours combine to make white light.
