In the last 100 years, the chances of a person living to 100-years-old has increased by about 40 times. At least part of the reason for this extended lifespan is the increased availability of effective drugs to treat human diseases. This session will consider where drugs originate from and how we can convert them into relatively safe and effective medicines using the combined skills of biologists, chemists, computational mathematicians and healthcare workers.
