Full event details

Professor Jonathan Reinarz, a Professor of the History of Medicine in the Institute of Applied Health Research at the University of Birmingham, would like to invite you to his Inaugural Lecture Series 'The Uses of History: Engaging with Medicine's Past'. His research has focused on the history of hospitals and medical education over the past two centuries, but he maintains an interest in the history of alcohol. He has also developed new interests in the history of the senses, especially smell. Besides a number of articles and book chapters, he has written and edited some ten monographs. He is particularly active in bringing the history of medicine to audiences outside of academia, delivering talks in schools, contributing to radio and television productions and collaborating with community and arts organisations, both in the UK and abroad.

The lecture will start at 4.30pm in Leonard Deacon Lecture Theatre, Medical School Building.

For further information please contact Yvonne Dawson: [email protected], 0121 414 4054. This lecture is open to all, pre-registration is not required.
