Politics Sixth Form Conference "From Cicero to Corbyn"

Event Summary:

Our Subject Taster Days give students the opportunity to find out about subjects they could study at university and the careers to which they might lead. Students work with experienced staff and current students from a variety of academic disciplines, taking part in lectures, practical workshops and group work sessions.

Full Event Details:

The events are free of charge, include complimentary lunch and are open to post-16 students.

10:15am Arrival and welcome

10:30am Digging into Politics - Session introducing the debate topic and showing students how to research political information online using a variety of sources

11:15am Introduction to Student Politics society
Followed by a Campus Tour with current undergraduate students
or
Debate Prep session in groups

12:15pm Lunch (Edge Hill staff from a range of politics courses will also be available to meet)

12:45pm Taster lecture - covering two subjects including a topical issue drawing on the current news and looking at implications for politics and a topic normally covered in politics teaching such as Prime Minister's Questions.

1:30pm Debate - Short prep session then team debate on topical issue

2:30pm - Prize giving for quiz
